Badger Books - FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a podcast?

If you're new to podcasting, check out this podcasting primer, courtesy of the Signal. The most important thing to know is that when we give you a feed address (which is just a URL), you need to copy and paste that address into your podcatcher, because that's how you subscribe (that is, start receiving episodes). Subscribing is free.

How do I subscribe to a feed?

If you want your episodes delivered once per day (which is the minimum non-zero interval) then copy/paste the "Daily" URL into your podcatcher.

If you want your episodes delivered once per week then similarly copy/paste the "Weekly" URL into your podcatcher.

For all other possibilities, click on the button marked "Custom", then tick checkboxes, pull down menus and so on, until you've specified what you want, then copy/paste the feed URL from the text box below. (If Javascript is not enabled, you'll have to click on the Submit button first).

How do I get all episodes at once?

Click on the "Custom" button, then select the checkbox "All remaining episodes (conventional RSS feed)", then copy/paste the feed URL from the text box below. (If Javascript is not enabled, you'll have to click on the Submit button first).

This gives you an old-fashioned (non-smart) RSS feed with all episodes on it. However, most podcatchers will only download one episode - which in our case will be some sort of intro or promo for the remaining episodes. To get the episodes themselves you'll have to go into your podcatcher, and manually set each episode to "download". This is not the fault of Badger Books - it's just the way that podcatchers work

How do I release the next episode?

We don't keep a database of what you've had so far, so this is one service we can't provide. If you want the next episode, and you don't want to wait until it's scheduled to turn up, then you need to unsubscribe from your current feed, create a new one which starts from your desired episode, and then resubscribe using the new feed. You can also click on the Episodes link to download episodes individually.

Where else can I get serialised audio content?

podiobooks.com. We think PodioBooks are great. Head over there and check them out.
